  1. just try to time the ball and when he's going to hit the ball. and watch his shoulder, his shoulder will tell you where he's going to hit the ball.

cause it doesn't matter how high you get he can still hit around you.

    hope this helps.

  2. You have to go up when the hitter is going up.  It is all in the timing.  As for bumping into each other, that happens because its all in the spur of the moment.  You may be taking an extra step towards her.  Make sure your lined up to the net, not the player.  Hope this helps and good luck!

  3. jump as the hitter jumps, as for timng.

if you bump into a blocking partner, just dont go for the stuffs. the goal of blocking is to take away the best angle for the hitter to hot to. if you do actually stuff the ball, thats always good, but remember: you task is to prevent the ball from going where they want it to go. if you create a mistep or force them to thikn twice, you just beat them

  4. Hmmm...

Make sure you're completing the right steps to get to the person beside you.  If you're just running, with no way to stop yourself, then it's easy to bump into someone.

Here is what I teach my players:

    - If you're blocking leftside: facing the net, turn your body so you're facing your right side player.  Take a big step with your right foot.  Then, take a big step with your left foot and plant it facing the net.  Close your step with your right foot beside your left.  You should be in a squating position, ready to jump.  Make sure you PLANT YOUR FEET!  If you're off balance, you'll hit the person blocking next to you.  It's almost like planting your feet during your spike approach.  If you don't stop yourself by planting your feet, you will run into the net!

For timing, make sure you look at one thing...the player hitting.

Never look at the ball as a source to time your block.

If you look at the player, jump when they jump.  It seems a bit later than you should jump, but believe me, it works.  All it takes is practice.  Just have a teammate hit at you over and over.

    Hope this helps!
