I recently had a car wreck, so we've been home a lot until I get another. Any fun activities or crafts that yall do? We go to the park and out in the backyard and stuff like that.. but I want some other ideas. ( I also care for my 10 month old nephew who was a premie, not very mobile).

  1. 1.  spread cool whip on the clean table and help him to draw shapes or the first letter in his name

    2.  find 3 items and place them on the table, ( toy truck, block, and a spoon) have him close his eyes and take one away, can he guess the missing one?  add more if he's interested, reverse roles after he gets the hang of it and you close your eyes and he can take one or two things away.

    3.  Baby Einstein has great videos

    4.  Take turns with a ball.  It is really important that toddlers learn that they can share their toy and will get another turn.  Say, "your turn," and have him play with the object, then see if he will give it to you when you say, "my turn".  It takes a little practice, but a great skill to learn.

These are just a few, check out the many ideas on the site listed below....have fun!

  2. buy tiles and blocks with colorful shapes on them and they will enjoy it! maybe little puppet shows and movies for kids.!

  3. play dough, make it homemade & is safe for any age & fun

also the paint with water pages

all u need is a little brush & some water, the colors are already on the page

    have fun

  4. read books ,show them colors, some toys that have different sounds.

  5. I am not sure a 20 month old is really ready for this but perhaps try going to starfall.com to see if they can handle the beginning lessons there.  Even at 20 months if you help them he or she may get something out of that and it will give them a fantastic start on school eventually.

  6. DANCING !!

  7. My nephew is also 20 months old and he loves to do two things: 1. get out the pots and pans and bang them with a wooden spoon. yes, it will be noisy, but they love it. 2. i take a blanket and put it over a few chairs to build him a "tent". Then he will take his favorite toys in there and play for hours. This is a good one for when the 10 month old is sleeping.

  8. Drawing is easy and fun for babies. Try finger painting and stuff.

  9. puppet show, talent show, bubbles, painting cheap bathroom tiles and giving them as gifts.

  10. I nanny during the summer as well, for an almost 3 year old and an 18mo old. Both of the kids loved water, so anything involving that worked great. They LOVE it when I filled up water balloons and let them drop them and splash outside in the kiddie pool or in the tub. Also, bathtub finger paints are always fun.

When the older boy was younger he loved it when we played 'Blues Clues' with me hiding something and planting 'clues' to get to it. It ended up being more of a treasure hunt than 'Blues', but he really liked it, and the younger boy is starting to play that as well.

    Bathtub Finger Paint Recipe:

To make the paint, dissolve one envelope of unflavored instant gelatin in 1/4 cup hot water and let it sit for 10 minutes. Combine 1/2 cup cornstarch, 3 tablespoons sugar and 1 3/4 cups cold water in a saucepan, and stir until cloudy and smooth. Cook the cornstarch mixture over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until thick. Reduce heat, add the gelatin mixture and 1/4 cup mild, liquid dishwashing soap, and stir until smooth. Let cool.

Divide equal parts of the mixture into small bowls. Add several drops of different food coloring to each (light colors are easier to clean). Store the paints in airtight jars.

  11. My nephew LOVED play-doh at that age.  Kept him busy for hours.  Also finger paints.  Just be sure to get the washable kind.

  12. play: finger paint, show your baby how to play bakers man with his/her hands, play tickler's, and last play monsters

  13. finger painting, glue paper stars on black paper....or go to www.cambridgeshire.net/healthandsocial/c... for more ideas

  14. As a mommy to a now 13 month old.....

    Little Ones Love:

    1.  Anything Involving Music-my son loves watching elmos world, wild wild west.  Tons of music and we sit on the floor together clapping, singing and dancing.

    2.  Water-bathtime can be more than just for cleaning.  I give him baths as part of a playtime routine.  He loves it and afterwards it will help him take his afternoon nap because it gets him all relaxed!

    3.  A little messy, but not too bad is play dough.  20 Months is old enough to understand not to eat it :)

    4.  Gymnastics!  At 13 months my little man already likes to tumble with my help.

    Good Luck!!

  15. gloope, its messy and has a great texture, u can draw and make shapes in it, it creates a shape then turns back into where or what it was.u have to try it to see what i mean. its made from cornflour, keep adding warm water until it forms a thick consistency, test it by poking your finger in, it will move but then move back.add food colouring to make it interesting. if not use custard powder add water and u will get the same result.
