  1. Always watch the ball. Don't bend your wrist too much when hitting. Push the ball forward when hitting. Don't be too tense! Relax and you'll do better.

It sounds like if you're sending the ball sky high and out, you need to point your strings more downward because if it's arching too much your strings may be pointed upwards too much. Also if you're sending it out, hit it lighter!

  2. The "hop" the guy is referring to is called a split-step.  Every time your opponent hits the ball you should take one because you can react quicker this way.

For a beginner, the main thing you should be worried about is your form and technique.  Actually, that's the only thing you should be worried about.  Your form and technique is extremely important when it comes to tennis, since it makes the difference of whether or not you can hit that forehand winner or not.  If you have no form, then you will be off balance all the time and always hit the ball out.

If you want tips on footwork, stances, serving, and pretty much all you need to know about tennis, go to www.fuzzyyellowballs.com and they will teach you everything you need to know.

when you hear your opponent's racket hit the ball, do a little hop. Thatll make you react faster to get the ball.
