  1. Vegetables:  try steaming them.  Every vegetable I've eaten tastes better steamed than any other method.  I can eat almost any vegetable that way without the need for seasoning.

Tofu:  Make a smoothie with it.  My favorite blend:  1 cup OJ, 1/4 block of tofu, 1 banana, 1/2 cup oatmeal.  Nutritious and delicious.

Tempeh:  It has a firmer texture than tofu.

Experiment with seasonings and find some you like.  Go away from the "norm" and you should be able to find something that satisfies you.

  2. I have been veggie for 26 years and started out really picky - over the years I have gradually tried different foods - starting out by chopping them really small and slowly increasing their size.

I hate anything that is trying to be meat - tofu, fake meat etc but enjoy a wide range of vegetables which I have plain, as a curry, stir fry, casserole, mexican, chilli.

It really is a case of trial and error and perserverance - do not think of yourself as picky - just someone who has not tried the things that they like yet.

  3. Check this out! Recipes

  4. 1. Pulses like kidney beans, black gram, rapeseed, mustard - all good in dietary fibre and proteins/amino acids

    2. Barley. Makes great porridges. Also, whenever you feel hungry, put two tablespoons of barley in chilled water and add a dash of lemon :)

    3. Boiled sweet potatoes - try them once

    4. beet roots, radish, carrots - don't have to cook them.

    5. pancakes (without egg)

    6. Rice and beans.

    7. Pastas

    8. Groundnuts, almonds, peanuts

  5. well cooked vegetables would be pretty much everything you can eat unless you want to survive on a raw diet, bread and pulses. maybe try different styles of cooking like frying, grilling etc. and try to find spices you like. vegetables can be quite disgusting when overcooked so try to cook or roast or whatever you do with the vegetables for the minimum required time. i'm sure there are thing you'll love. you probably just haven't discovered them yet. (i really hope so for you:)  have a look at italian and mexican vegetable recipes, also thai and chinese vegetable dishes are tasty.

  6. how about dipping your veggies in your favorite dressings? i realised that the only way my son will eat his veggies is by dipping it in ragu sauce.

  7. Pasta, rice, beans, eggs (if you're not vegan), raw vegetables (sandwiches!), soup, salad, pizza, baked potatoes, there's so much!

  8. i was a vegetarian but im changeing because if u are picky it will show wieght loss rapidly and u will feel week if u stop eating meat. so either eat fake meat or vegetables or look like ur dieing of stravation.

  9. raw veggies and fruit, beans, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, nuts, fruit

  10. I would suggest keep trying new foods and vegetables. When I first went vegetarian I hated all vegetables besides, corn, broccoli and carrots. Over time my tastes changed and I began to like more veggies.

I also found that I like most vegetables cooked a certain way(lightly steamed), and if they are over cooked I do not like the taste. You should see if you like your veggies cooked a certain way.

Some times it takes me eating the same vegetable numerous times before I actually like it. Most recently I found out I like zucchini, which I had tried before a few times and hated it. Taste change over time, so keep trying.

Vegetables and other foods I have added to my favorite list since becoming vegetarian... cauliflower, green beans, chickpeas, spinach, squash, mushrooms, peppers, onions, watermelon, cantaloupe, red grapes, etc. All these foods I didn't like and it took a few times and different ways of preparing to finally enjoy them. Now it is not uncommon for me to eat green beans, or cauliflower as a snack.

You may be a picky eater, but you should put that aside and at what you need to stay healthy. You may find that you are not as picky as you think and it is just that you are unwilling to try new things.

  11. boiled vegetables, bread (7 grain), green leafy vegetables, salsa...
