I really dont want to stop running. I really enjoy it. But I want to bulk up. I eat ALOT and drink protein shakes, and weight lift a couple times a week. What am I missing? ALSO, wondering how good Boxing is when mixed in with weight lifting. I want to get serious with that as well

  1. running increases your motablilism which means you will burn off the stuff you need to gain muscle.  Running will keep you thin with no fat but will not gain you muscle... What I would recommend is you alternate... Jog one day weight train the next and mix it up.  The best thing while during a work out is not to do the exact thing all the time because your body will get trained for it and eventually not increase in any way.  Move your eating till after your workout will help also.  Your body will crave energy taking it from your fat cells first and then if you eat a couple hours after your workout the energy that you just ate will help build the new muscle you have gained.  Good luck

  2. Yeah you build leg muscle while you are running

  3. long-distance running may burn fat but it also burns muscle.

short sprints burn fat AND builds muscle in your legs

if you want to keep running AND be bigger, do sprints

think about it,have you ever seen one of those marathon  runners buff

    i didnt think so

  4. Yes, you can still build muscle while doing running excercises, but you will also have to do some weight training.

If get a personal trainer (which is quite expensive) or a training guide (about $40+) about building muscle that ould help a lot.  No Nonsense Muscle Building by Vince DelMonte (http://www.fitnessreview.info/build-musc... is good andhelped me a lot a few years ago when I bought it.

I think he used to be a triathlete or runner or something like that but grw really big and strong fast.

    Good Luck!

  5. depends on how often you run...if u do it consistently then you will build some muscle in your legs, mainly your calves and quads. and it will also help with body building because it will help you burn some fat so that youll look more ripped.

  6. normally you have to run lots & lots of times. if you do results should come in about a year

  7. i dont think u can build muscle by doing cardio. U need to stop doing cardio and start lifting heavy wesights. choose weights which you can do 10 reps. anything less or more is not good.

  8. i was told cross country can burn muscle while short sprints actually help build muscle. boxing and weight lifting don't go well together because lifting can limit your mobility.
