  1. If it's from the government, yes.

  2. Actually it is early. The date to start filing for financial aid is January 1st. As soon as your parents get their W2's and fill out their Taxes, I would get going on filing a FAFSA. This should be completed asap, but no earler than Jan 1st, 2009. The FAFSA that you fill out will be for the 2009-2010 school year since this is the year you will be begining college. You can find this under fafsa.ed.gov. It is a free application, and you should never pay for any type progam that helps find aid assistance. Filing a FAFSA is free.

What you can do right now if you know which college you want to attend is contact their financial aid office and ask what type of scholarships they offer. If you can start to obtain letters of recommondation, different scholarship applications, and other information you may need... you will definitely be ahead of the game.

It is probably a bit early to fill out fastweb.com scholarships, but sign up for it and check it out. The closer you get to the 2009-2010 school year, the more scholarships will appear.

    Good luck.

  3. its never too early to get financial aid..lol

  4. NO, it is definately NOT too early. In fact, the earlier the better. For example, fill out your FAFSA within the first week of this coming January. The sooner you get it in, the better chance of financial aid. This will also send in your application for Federal and State PELL grants.

Websites I am currently using to help me in my search are www.fastweb.com and www.scholarships.com. There are other websites as well, but I think these are the best. If you decide it isn't for you, seach for scholarships in your area.

Also, if you have any idea of the college you wish to go into, check to see what scholarships they provide, endorse, or will accept. This will give you a base ground for looking for financial aid. Or, go to your high school's guidance counselor office. They are more than happy to help you with financial aid, and are often an asset in writing essays and filling out the scholarships.

    I hope this helps you!

  5. The Dept of Education created a Pre-fafsa site for students just like you... juniors, eager to get everything ready for when they start college.  It is called the fafsa 4 caster site and it is very similar to applying for federal aid and letting you and your parents know what to expect when it is time.
