  1. I think seikatsu hogo is more like living allowance. I think if your a single mother you might be able to apply for boshi katei teate at your local shiyakusho (city hall ) .

    ●CHILD-CARE ALLOWANCE (JIDOU FUYOU TEATE)

    - Support for single-parent families with children under

    18 years of age.

    ●ALLOWANCE FOR DEPENDENT CHILDREN

    (JIDOU TEATE) -

Available from birth until your child completes

    elementary school. Child Support Section

The age of childrens eligability may change depending on what area you live in .

Please check with your local city offices as some offer different services and allowances regarding

    Hope this helped good luck

  2. Besides asking the local office for info or help, you may want to consider other ways to live. I'm telling you so because I hear it is very difficult, if not impossible, to apply for seikatsu hogo.

For example, do you have your Japanese citizenship or were you a spouse of a Japanese citizen?  Are you out of any savings? (You must not have some money in a bank savings acount to apply for seikatsu hogo. )  etc. etc.

The list goes on and on as the rules to give seikatsu hogo to needy families are VERY STRICT.

Isn't it ever possible to get a job so that you can live yourself without any seikatsu hogo? I guess it can be tough to find a job as you are a single mother, but you can try at least.

If ever possible, you may also want to consider to go back to your home country (I assume you are from another country than Japan), at least for a while, so that you can get help from your parents or relatives or you can get your job easily.

Anyway, I hope you can find a way out and wish you good luck.
