Im a single parent wanting to go back to college?

i am 20 years old and want to go back to college and i am thinking of doing a childcare course. i have a 8 month old son. i really really want to do this so i can get a job and have a better life for me and my baby boy. i am just worried anout the funding as im on income support, i dont know what funding i will get, can anyone help? also i live in a council house and get my rent paid will i still get the same benefits? i would like to do a course where i go college 1 day a week and go into placement the other days. please someone help!

  1. I was all about to launch into a big spiel on this when I saw you post you were in the UK.  I sadly am quite unfamiliar with how you folks do things across the pond.

    Have you checked with the school you are interested in attending?  Do they have a financial aid office of sorts?  You may want to check there to see what forms of assistance are available to you there.

    Wish I could be of more help - but do wish you all the luck in getting that done.  Even in the US it is common to see single parents getting back into school.   With a lot of hard work I know it can be done.
