  1. Have lots of activities because kids bore quickly.  Have more activities than you think you need, especially for the kids who finish quickly.

  2. A good student teacher must be willing to sacrifice their time to help their students.

First create a lesson plan with topics that need to be learned

    i suggest hand-typed study guides

for the whole chapter. And do a certain number of pages each day.

    Example:

    chapter1- Astronomy part 1

    mon- the universe

    tues-stars

    wed- the planets

    thurs- eccentricity

    fri- lab

    mon-review

    tues-quiz

volunteer for extra help, its a great way to get to know your students while helping them learn better.

    Assign rational ammounts of homework

or a project. Its also never bad to ask teachers for advice.

Review games are also an interactive way of learning which students also enjoy.

Have an interesting lesson plan ready for whatever needs to be covered in a month.

then you will have time after to relax or get other accomplishments done.

    GOOD LUCK!

  3. 1. Get a hold of the standards and objectives set down by your state school board as a part of No Child Left Behind.

    2. Go through those objectives and highlight the ones you feel are

           A) most important

           B) the best fit for your class and class materials at that time

    3. prioritize the highlighted objectives and estimate how much time you want to spend instructing on each objective (more time on the difficult concepts).

    4. get a copy of the school calendar and map out when you want to teach around school holidays and days off.  For example, if you want to spend 4 days on something, then look for a week when you have a day off for assembly, etc.

    5. For each objective, make an impromptu test or quiz, maybe a question or two to figure out how you're going to assess their acquisition of the knowledge.

    6.  make up 5-6 activities to instruct each objective

    7. make a contingency plan for when things go wrong.

  4. plan what you will want to teach but most of what you will be doing the class room is just improvising
