  1. from what i have heard

every state has a different rule

my friend said that hawaii lets everyone pay regular resident tuition

but i know that california charges a lot of money for non residents

but there are some exceptions for many students.

i know that if you have attended another college out of california all you have to do is prove that you paid regular resident tuition at another college out of california,

there are so many rules, you can just call the admissions and records office at whatever school you want to go to in nevada and ask them, they have to help you and answer your questions, that's what they are there for

  2. You are only charged out of state tuition if you attend a state sponsored school like UNLV. If the school is private then there is no distinction between in-state and out of state rates.

If the school you want to attend is state-sponsored then establish residency in the state and this will mean that you will have to pay out of state rates for your first year if you attend right-away. The school will have information on what you need to do and what you need to provide in order to demonstrate you are a state resident. Typcially this includes having a driver's license issued by the state, an address in the state, living in the state continuously for a period of time (usually around a year, maybe a bit less), and a wage stub. Usually being a student and attending college is usually not sufficient you need to take further steps to make the state your permanent residence in order to avoid out of state rates.

  3. Get a job and thereby establish NV residency with drivers license, etc. Then you are eligible.

  4. Paying out of state tuition fees in inevitable as for reducing the cost of your college tuition look for government grants and private scholarships. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov/ for a goverment grant and http://www.cityofcollegedreams.org/ to search for a myriad of scholarships based on academics, athletics and a bunch of crazy other things.

Hope everything works out in the end :-)!
