Im a vegetarian and i need help with my diet?

im 16 and been vegetarian for 7 months and at first it was easy being able to eat healthy cuz my parents helped out a lot but now its hard! i hardly eat and i know its bad but its like when i get home to what my mom cooked which is meat i just dont wanna cook so i skip that meal. i have no idea how to keep healthy and i need some help! i need some to help me like plan a diet for my day and things i can buy. someone please help me!!

  1. well my idea 4 a vegetarian is eating tofue witch is fake meat and drink soy milk (because it dosen't come from cows) eat fruits and vegetables stuff that dosent come from animals


  2. They judge you because they see that you're obviously not eating healthy and want you to be better. Why don't you just stick to meat eating for now until you're fully grown and supporting yourself.

  3. Hi- I've been vegetarian for all my life and its not that bad for me but its harder when people turn vegetarian. First of all, your missing out on all the protein so make sure to eat a high protein diet...for example, tofu, beans; anything w/ fiber. Also make sure you always choose brown bread over white and eat lots of things with omega 3 in them and lower cholesterol. Fish is also really healthy for your body (most vegetarians eat it but I dont). Also make sure to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. If you get all these into your diet, you will be a lot more healthy than you were eating meat.

  4. Please understand that skipping meals is really really bad for you! Talk to your mom about buying you more vegetarian foods that you can make quickly.  Make sure your getting all you need in your diet every day!

  5. A free range egg is good for you. The egg serves no-one, not even the chicken as it hasn't been fertilised, so why not take advantage of it?

    Brown bread, butter (I presume butter, milk etc is allowed) with slices of apple and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice will make a delicious breakfast.

  6. well first of all you definetley need to eat!

    just because you dont feel like cooking don't skip that meal.

    what you need is protein,, peanut butter and anything to do with peanuts is great. you can also eat almonds, because those are very healty, have lots of nutrients, and they can help cholestorol.   also try any nuts such as cashews, and not pistachios all the time because they can be fattening. but nuts are very very very important. some granola bars are also now made with extra protein which can help a great deal.

    salad. salad with lots of items in it.  such as nuts, olives, tomatoes, carrots, cheese, whatever you feel you want in your salad.

    dairy.  you need milk, cheese, and yogurt.  a great thing is apples with cheese.  you can buy extra sharp white cheddar, and slice it with some apples, its a great filling healthy snack.  and with the yogurt you can also add in some cereal or fruit. its delicious!

    fruit.  apples, pears, banannas, grapes, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, starfruit, oranges, plums, this can go on and on!

    breads.  you need carbs, but sometimes a lot of vegetarians eat and eat carbs such as pasta, which is not good. you need a variety of foods, but pasta is a great thing to have.  you can also make cuecumber sandwiches, its very tastey. take some whole-grain bread, spread some cream cheese on it, and then layer cuecumbers on it.

    vegetables. okay, you can eat any vegetables. a great thing to do is take portabella mushroom caps, which are very large, and grill them.  it might sound wierd but its very good. then you can add some dressing or something and put it on a bun.   very very good becaus the mushroom also has protein in it.

  8. go to a book store and sometimes they hav books on being a vegetarian and they somethimes have meal plans. try it!

    vegetarian cook book, it always has

    tastey recipes that your whole family

    will enjoy. So that way once in a while your mother

    will make a vegetarian dinner. Usually the book

    contains same easy recipes you can cook on your

    own. Little snacks like fruits and cheese will surely get you

    through the day. Always drink a lot of water, smoothies are easy and great for breakfasts. You can also

    look on line for websites where vegetarians and vegans share their recipes with each other.Hope that helps!

  10. 1.   No vegetarian eats fish..period.  Just because I say I am the Queen of England..does not make it true.

    2.   Eggs are unfertilized when you buy them.  They are not chicken abortions.  Whoever told you that was ignorant.

    Surely your Mother cooks more than just meat?  It's also your choice not to cook or to eat.  People make choices...change yours.

Wow, I sometimes am exactly the same way.  But it turns out that I dont feel hungry much anymore and almost forget to eat too.  The thing with that is...buy foods that are fast to just heat up and eat that way, you can just pop it in the mircowave and have a meal in 3 minutes. Try "Amy's Organics" they are fast and great vegetarian meals.  Also, if you still eat cheese (or if not) then make up some great nachos that will make any meat dish look sub-par.  All you have to do is pop them in the microwave for a minute or two.  I know it is hard being healthy and eating enough, but who is to say that skipping a meal is no good, I think it is good and I feel as fit as ever doing so.  Just make sure you snack alot. I always have a nutrigrain bar or some fruit snacks with me, some cracker jacks, and pretzels and nuts for snacks.  Just do like your fellow cows do...graze all day, then you wont need a big meal. Get some fruits and much on some sugar snap peas or radishes.  Have a penut butter and jelly samach, grilled cheese.  Pop in a boca sausage or burger and feast away. You should be good.  Humans eat WAY more than is necessary for a healthy lifestyle. Good luck and I hope I helped a bit.

  12. congrats 2 you, i agree ppl are so nosey and want to tell you it is bad to be a vegetatian, when if they look up the facts its better for you and for, the planet and they animals. my favorite foods is peanutbutter, soy milk, grilled veggies, and a product called boca, it has MORE protein than meat and better for you cholesterol, fat and ingredient wise, also ther are alot of other companies that make immitation meat, we get ours at walmart.  burgerking has a veggie burger avalible for their vegetarian customers, also some recipies are at www.peta.com and pilsbury and betty crocker for some veggie dinners, give boca a try you just might convert your family as i have done !  www.boca.com

  13. peanut butter!.  this is a amazing source of protein (which since ur not eating meat this is what you are not getting).  Peanut butter is easy to slap on anything from celery to crackers and bagels and bread.  Another thing is beans (ewww) but even backed beans have protein which isnt to bad and you can eat hummus this stuff thats made from chick peas put its like a spread and tastes nothing like them!  Also trail mix is good too.  Nuts have a amazing source of protein.

    -make yourself nachos, tacos, or a burrito with beans instead of meat

    -cook a veggie burger

    -your grocery store should also carry some kinds of frozen food brand that has fake chicken (soy) that are actually really good. some really good brands are Amy's and Morningstar Farms

  16. well first calm down !!!!! being a vegetarian is HARD because it feels like everyone is against you because there are more people who eat me than people who dont well since your craving meat......if your still planing to be vegetarian dont eat meat dont cheat even if your craving it !! find a veggie store there are plenty around that way you can get what eveer you want there and you wont get that crave

    I KNOW TOFU CAN GIVE U PROTEINS BUT IT INCREASES THE RISK OF NEUROLOGICAL DESEASES LIKE ALZHEIMER AND MENTAL RETARDATION. PLEASE EAT MEAT AT LEAST UNTILL UR 18 AND DONT NEED A LOT OF PROTEINS ANYMORE. ALLSO EGGS CAN GIVE U SALMONELLA SO U CANT EAT MORE THAN 1 A DAY AND PEANUT BUTTER IS FULL OF SUGGAR AND FAT.
