  1. You're not a vegetarian.  Vegetarians don't eat fish.  Who cares if you like peanut butter...That's no excuse to take tuna.  There are a million things you could take instead of tuna.

So many of these other answers are so ridiculous.  It makes me lose faith in the intelligence of our youth.  I can't believe just how many people don't know what a vegetarian eats.

  2. You are not a vegetarian.

    Fish are living animals.

  3. If you are vegetarian based on principle, then it is bad.  If you are a vegetarian based on health reasons, then you are misguided.  Meat is not bad for you, unless you do not believe in killing animals, in which case it is bad for your conscience.

Also, do not eat too much tuna.  It has one of the highest mercury content of any fish.  Mercury = bad.

  4. im a vegetarian too... but i dont eat fish either, i hate salad, i hate sandwhiches.. etc. so when it comes down to packing a lunch i pack a roll, nothing on it just plain bread. but for most people that might be difficult to adjust to, so i suggest to not call yourself a vegetarian cause most vegetarians will freak if you say you are a vege. and you eat fish....

so heres my advice stick to the stuff you eat now, youre not really a full fledge vege. but youve pretty much got the idea! keep it up!

  5. vegitarians eat fish, chicken and turkey along with milk and cheese. VEGANS however eat NO animals or products made my animals what so ever. If you want to go the whole way, go for a different lunch. like jelly sandwich!

  6. yes, being a vegetarian is very bad, and against all progressions as mankind.

  7. there are different types of vegetarians....

    i happen to be a lacto-ovo vegetarian.

you didn't say you were a vegan so you won't have to worry about being kicked out of their group meetings...j/k

  8. No.. people are always going to eat tuna you can't do anything about that.. So why not.. If you don't eat it the tuna died for nothing..

  9. No, but you're not a vegetarian because tuna is meat.

  10. If you eat Fish i think its called being a Pesetarian or something like that. Where you only eat Fish.

Some people who choose not to eat meat decide to eat either only fish or only poultry. I dont eat any meat :) but i do sometimes have craving for chicken. I dont think its bad you feel that way, but if you think its cruel to fish then dont eat it, but if your fine with it, then you can eat it if you like :)

  11. no.

you just have to consider yourself a peskitarian.

    peskitarians eat fish only.

unlike vegetarians who dont eat meat.

    mkay? :)

    goodluck.

    way to save animals<3

  12. ... in my honest opinion being a vegetarian is unhealthy, unless you are actually going to be a strict vegetarian and get all the tofu, etc all the protein foods and what not you will acutally be unhealthy.

  13. Depends on why you're a vegetarian. Is it because you think it's wrong to use animals for food? If that's the case, definitely find an alternative. If it's for health reasons, or a taste preference, then go pescetarian and call it good.

Have you tried other nut butters? Cashew butter is amazing and almond butter is tasty, too. You could also switch to bean spreads, salads, etc in pita. Or bring something other than a sandwich.

  14. no its not! not at all babe. just  because you eat tuna dosent mean nothing it kinda dosent mean ur a vegi. but you can be half.  ut i do think vegi eat meat? cause my roomate is a vegi and eats fish:) so its not bad!

  15. It's not bad, but you're not a vegetarian.

  16. No it isn't bad.

I was a vegetarian for five years until around March of this year.

I always ate tuna, because you have to get protein and it's kind of hard to when you don't like certain foods other than meat that offer protein.

  17. No, tuna is good for you... It depends on what kind of vegetarian you are. Some vegetarians are half and half, like they don't eat chicken or red mean, but they will eat fish. You are fine. Eat what you like and at least you are picking something that is healthy. Enjoy.

Also, when I said it depends it means you have to ask the question of "why, am i a vegetarian" and if you don't like that we have to kill an animal for sustenance then maybe it isn't the best thing in the world. Tuna fishing is better than it used to be , no matter what you do, eat dolphin safe tuna, cause any manufacturer of tuna that isn't "dolphin safe" may be pulling up dolphins with the fish and thereby probably killing them.

  18. so that makes you

    a vegetunarian!

    lol im funny

    :D

  19. Some people who consider themselves vegetarians eat eggs, fish and use milk products. Generally only vegans use no animal based products. Doing the best you can is never bad.

  20. you are not a vegetarian if you eat fish.

    http://www.chooseveg.com/fish.asp

tuna has extremely high levels of mercury

It's not "bad," it's your decision what you eat, but you can't call yourself a vegetarian and eat fish.

  21. you can still eat the tuna and just be someone who doesn't eat red meat-chicken.

do you really have to have the title of "veretarian" ?

  22. You should never feel guilty for liking to eat something as commonplace as tuna. If you worry that you won't be a "true" vegetarian because of it, you are right; you would be a pescetarian, or a vegetarian who also eats fish. I myself am a semi-vegetarian (I eat fish and sometimes poultry). Unless you are avoiding all forms of meat because you don't want to eat anything that ever had a face, I wouldn't worry about a harmless can of tuna. It is your life, and you should be able to eat (or not eat) what you choose.

  23. Just because you don't like peanut butter doesn't mean you have to eat tuna.  And if you do eat tuna, you aren't vegetarian anyway.

There are "mock" tuna dishes you can make by mashing up chickpeas or tofu.

You can try almond butter or cashew nut butter--there are many types of nut butters besides peanut butter.

If you don't like sandwiches, you can always bring raw veggies and a dip, such as hummus.   The Vegan Lunchbox has some really cool ideas for kids who bring their lunches to school.

Eating tuna frequently is problematic because the flesh sea creatures tends to be rather high in mercury.

  24. Well...vegetarians don't eat tuna first of all and tuna everyday is bad because of the mercury content.  You shouldn't eat it more than 2 times a week.

Edit:   I just read all your answers and most of them are very wrong.  No type of vegetarian eats any dead animal.  A pescetarian is NOT any type of vegetarian.

  25. Sorry to say this darlin, but you aint a vegetarian,  Vegetarian eat no flesh, including fish.  You just don't eat meat, which isn't the same thing.

If you really want to try and be a vegetarian and like savory rather than sweet try some of the following on your sandwiches

    homous

vegetarian pate (found in health food shops)

grilled vegetables drizzled with olive oil

    falafal

    marmite/vegemite

    brie and grape

tomato and yellow pepper spread (grill them both for a few minutes and them blend)

green pesto and lettuce with thin slivers of parmesan cheese

carrot (thin tiny mandolin pieces) and raisins

EDIT vegetarian DO NOT EAT fowl, ie chicken turkey duck

  26. nope.

you're a pescitarian which is a type of vegetarian.

  27. Yes; its bad.

you are commiting a sin to god.

    :D

umm.. why is not bad to eat fish?

eventhough its not considered meat.. the animal is still being killed.. in a very nasty way.

soo.. i think vegetarians are stupid.

    eat all the tuna, girl!

    :D

  28. Fish is not counted as meat. Even if it was, so what.. if you want to eat it, you could. But back on topic, Fish is not considered meat.

  29. It means you are not a vegan or vegetarian as you eat a form of meat.

It's up to you whether or not you want to continue doing it.

I would say this though: Be wary of mercury poisoning. I've heard it's bad to have more than 1 can a day for the average person. Mercury poisoning is the kind of poisoning that adds up little by little over time, so you won't know you're doing it at first.

See my source for a tuna/mercury calculator!

  30. Fish is considered an alternative by most sources

  31. That means u are a pescatarian. not a vegetarian. im a pescetarian as well.
