  1. Firstly Chef is spelt without the "t" at the end......

Yes Organic Vegetables , Vegeterian Restaurants are very popular in Asia....!!!  Most stuff you order from the menu are made from soya bean cleaverly disguised to give you the taste of fried chicken ,duck or beef but its actually the by product of soya bean ....the process of fermentation......perhaps you should learn the Art of Producing this products..more than 20 types of variations...!!!!

    Very tasty and healthy too..nontoxic

  2. Be a vegeterian cook.Meateaters will always underestimate Your stuff. In general(not particular individuals)You can gain more by doing vegetarian cooking.Go to a vegeterian restaurant better

  3. I know a few Vegetarian chefs- one of them owns her own cafe- she does very well.

  4. Yes is the short answer.

One of the best restaurants in San Francisco is a place called Millenium (great cookbook too).  It is very high end, mostly vegan and all vegetarian.

Of course there are also tons of very casual cafes and restaurants that are also vegetarian in addition to some that are specifically Indian or Asian.

Now unless you are taking a course specific to vegetarian you will likely have to learn about meats in school also, breaking them down, cooking techniques, etc.  So just be prepared for that.

Being a good chef is about palate and technique, neither of which are specific to meat.  A balance of flavors can easily be achived without animal products.

  5. Yes of course. I own a restaurant and 2 of our line cooks are vegetarian. They are line cooks not because of lack of talent but because they are young, new to the trade. They are on the veggies section permanently.

One thing though, they handled and cooked meat in culinary school.

  6. That's excellent. Yes, people would definitely go to a vegetarian restaurant.. I am sure a lot of people (veggies) like me find it difficult to find good vegetarian restaurants when you travel.

As far as becoming a chef is concerned, I know many many people who cook non-veg food without ever tasting it because their spouses are non-vegetarians and they are all excellent cooks. Though I was surprised to hear that it seems to be very true. So, I think if you are a good cook you'll be able to cook anything.
