  1. Well, it all depends on if you want to be an extra strict vegetarian or if you want to have meat occasionaly or you can have fish but no meat etc... there are a lot of different kinds of vegetarians.

If you want to be a strict vegetarian, you have to check the ingrediants on everything. Believe it or not, Skittles has geletain in it, which is from animals' bodies. . . gross, huh?

Sometimes, depending on where you live, stores sell all natural foods. You could get some things from there.

If you don't have a place like that, then you could buy things at your local or chain grocery stores. Generaly, most groceries now sell vegan foods and veggie burgers and things like that. When going out to eat, a lot of restraunts have vegetarian options on their menus. Good luck!

  2. First you have to decide two things

1 Why you want to be a vegetarian

    2. What type of a vegetarian.

Not all the vegetarians are same.

A true vegetarian in the western world is a Vegan. Vegans do not eat

    1. Red meats

    2. Fowl

    3. Fish and seafood

    4. Live cultures such as yeast used to bake bread

    5. Eggs

    6. Dairy foods

    7. Animal produced foods such as honey

    8. By-products of meats such as gelatin

Most of the Vegetarians in India are 'lacto- vegetarians'. They shun everything a Vegan does, but they eat Dairy products including butter and Vegetarian Cheese.

They avoid cheese made with Rennet.

Most of the Vegetarians in United States are 'Lacto-ovo Vegetarians'. They are lacto-vegetarians who also eat sterilized eggs.

Nowadays, when someone just says they are vegetarian, they normally mean they are Laco-ovo Vegetarian.

  3. taco bell haha.

  4. Uh, the store.

    I'm afraid I don't understand your question.

  5. As a vegetarian you would not eat meat or any animal product that

is harvested by killing the animal.  Dairy products and eggs are all

right (if the rooster has not been in the hen house).  Modern egg

ranches house the chickens in an environment where the rooster is

not present.  Someone who eats fish but no other meat is called

a pisceterian    I am not a vegetarian, but I respect the belief.  Jell-o

is out, but what about beer!  Is Yeast a plant or an animal?    Jane

Fonda may have some books out on the subject.  "Nothing with

a face---nothing with a hart" is what she would say.

  6. Vegetarians do not eat animals or by-products of their slaughter.

This would include beef, chicken, fish, shrimp, clams, lard, "animal fat", gelatin and glycerin, just to name a few.

Are you also asking how to eat a balanced diet?

Vegetarians do not need any special vegetarian products. Those are all just luxuries. Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies are all that you need to eat a balanced diet.

Minerals such as calcium and iron can be easily obtained by eating dark green leafy vegetables such as mustard, collards and kale. They taste great when thoroughly wilted in olive oil and tossed with a splash or two of balsamic vinegar.

ALL vegetarians should take a b12 supplement on a regular basis since people that eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals usually have a lower b12 status than recommended. Every other nutrient is plentiful in the right plant foods.

  7. I'm pretty sure you can get like Soy Burgers and stuff from any place.

But, you can also eat Rice and like Pasta and stuff that doesn't have meat.

  8. I think everyone has given you some good tips. Be careful about eating soy though. Many people who become vegetarians eat lots of soy products which can be unhealthy (like too much of anything). Soy has lots of estrogen in it and I read somewhere that if men eat too much of it they can develop b*****s (haha). Try sticking to natural sources of protein such as nuts, legumes, and vegetable protein. Also, make sure you're getting enough of your B vitamins. I take the active multivitamins because they have lots of B vitamins and iron in them. You also might want to have your blood checked once you get in the swing of things to make sure you're getting the right nutrients.
