  1. Practice with a practice volleyball (they're cheap) - with a wall near your home.  This ball can take any hard surface.

Practice will give you the confidence, like a spike serve - also great for practising spikes.

Arm strength (and speed) is important, so practice will help a great deal.

Add the wrist movement - curl upon contact with the ball, this ensures that when the ball hits the net, it will go over. Also the spin helps a lot to score points, and keep it within the court.

Also develop a windmill serve - this adds lots more spin - and this is a great serve to have, when tired. You can serve all day and night with this killer serve.

With practising - you can use your other hand, when you get bored, it is good to add the other hand - it does come in handy!

  2. Practice, Practice, Practice. If you want a good practice tool to make sure you hit the ball on the mark every time, practice with a tether ball set. You can play by yourself and never have to go chasing after the ball.

  3. I've been working on this as well and have gotten much better then when i started. you have to PRACTICE every day. start lifting weights to strengthen your left arm to give yourself more power....hope this helps
