Im about 280 lbs, will I fit on a aeroplane seat?

Im 5 7, 280lbs, size 22/24 and so afraid that I wont fit on a plane? : ( I have no choice but to go as tickets are booked. Im so nervous and need to prepare myself for the worst. PLEEEEASE HELP.

Yes, you'll fit in an airplane seat. It may be uncomfortable but you can lift the arm rests and hopefully the seat next to you will be empty.

The average economy class seat is about 17 inches wide. If you're much wider than that, then you won't fit comfortably and may infringe on the customer in the next seat. And, you can't count on having an empty seat next to you. Many flights are full these days.

You may need a seat belt extender, which the airline will provide.

Some airlines now require you to buy a second seat if you don't fit. You may want to call the airline and confirm how they handle people with your situation. It may save you some embarrassment at the ticket counter.

I know what you mean.  I weigh a little less than you but I am shorter- I wear size 26 jeans so you are smaller than me hipwise.

I just returned from a trip to Europe and had a similar freak-out.  Don't worry.  I could buckle my seat-belt without an extender- had even more room on the international flight.  I had the arm between the seats up (was sitting next to my daughter) or it would have been uncomfortable- you will have more room than me though because you're smaller.

Please remember there are MANY people larger than you who travel all the time.  Relax and enjoy your travel- you'll be fine.
