  1. strictly my opinion, but, if you change your oil every 3000 - 4000 miles, even the cheapest oil won't break down enough to make a difference in the viscosity.  As you put more and more miles on your vehicle, or, as it approached 100,000 miles, worn parts in the engine tend to break down the oil more quickly, thus it's a good idea to upgrade to a brand name oil.

Synthetic oil has it's advantages, but the biggest is longer oil life.

  2. Honestly, I dont think there's a difference.  5W30 of any type is best for most cars.  To me, oil is oil.  I would say just keep doing what you're doing, at least you change it regularly!

  3. i believe there are some oil better then others, now take quaker state, i wouldnt oil my door hinges with that stuff, but there are good oil out there. i guess if you care about your engine, then if i were you, i would consider getting a good brand oil, after all oil is cheaper then parts.

  4. I don't think its worth spending more money for more expensive oil. You still have to get your oil changed every 3,000 miles, and getting the more expensive oil, really isn't worth it. Oil is oil, and do you really want to spend more money on more expensive oil? Isn't gas prices enough? The cheaper oil works just as good on your car and your wallet. Don't waste your time, and don't second guess yourself!

  5. as they say you get what you pay for
