Im pretty scared, Ive read all the side effects and cannot find one place that has anything positive to say about it. Should I start taking it or not? Ive talked to my doctor and he told me that everything would be fine, but Im still nervous and my anxiety attacks are getting more frequent. I feel like I lose either way. I dont know what to do for the best :(

  1. I'm on Celexa, which is Lexapro's first cousin, so to speak.  They're nearly identical.  When I first started taking Celexa, I had a slightly spaced out feeling for  the first three or four days.  Then, that feeling ceased and I began to feel normal- my anxiety and depression were almost totally gone within two weeks. This drug can affect your ability to reach sexual climax, but I've found that I can eventually overpower this side effect and go on to have a normal s*x life.

I never read the side effects too carefully, because I will mentally trick myself into thinking I have all of them.  Please don't worry, and give the med a try.  I hope you feel better soon.

  2. Hi, I've been taking Lexapro and Wellbutrin SR for over a year and a half - and it has helped me very much.

I take the Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and the Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening.

When I first started taking it, they had me taking the Lexapro in the morning - and that made me drowsy and feeling like I was "in a fog" all day.  The doctors switched it to the evening, and that made a huge improvement - and I think it helped me sleep better, too.  Soon after that, they added the Wellbutrin SR - I think it helps me to be more active, and makes me feel more like doing things.

I've actually lost some weight - but I think the Wellbutrin SR helping me to be more active is what is doing that.  You might ask your doctor about that, too.

I wish you the best of luck - and I hope it works for you :-)

    Paul.

  4. I used to take prozac and didn't like how it made me feel - I was numb emotionally - I switched to Lexapro and I absolutely love it!! I don't have any anxiety, I'm happy and back to my old self - it has been wonderful - obviously I would recommend that you try it.

There is one thing you need to know, it takes a week or two before you start to feel different.
