“I’m all set and committed and ready to go,’’ says Minnesota Twins interim GM Terry Ryan
Minnesota Twins interim general manager Terry Ryan has finally took over the franchise as full time GM. He has been coming as GM by the team’s top management as they observed his past two years performances.
Though the Twins has not showed any clear progress during his span as interim GM but still many believe that he is the right man for this job at the moment.
He told the reporters in a press conference with quite confidence that it is the right time to go for more glory. “I’m all set and committed and ready to go,” Ryan said with confidence and hoped for a better beginning for the Twins.
Terry was Twins interim GM but from last one year, the things were going in wrong directions as he already fired three coaches and one trainer during his tenure.
The top Twins management was also upset the way Terry was handling the affairs of the franchise. They had spoken about certain things with Terry but nothing went well.
In the meanwhile, after a long discussion with two important franchise’s officials, they agreed to give him another chance and this time without the tag of interim GM.
“It's going to take everything we've got to turn this thing around quickly, We're committed to Ron, and he did not waver on coming back, I know he didn't like losing his friends and people who've been with him and loyal, but he also understands that in this
business change is inevitable,” Ryan told reporters at Target Field and explained in detail about the way now things will work for the Minnesota Twins.
Ryan was appointed as interim GM on November 7th in 2011 but back then it was never known that he will be in-charge of the club in 2012 or at the end of regular season.
Before coming onto the media, Terry met with owner Jim Pohlad and team President Dave St. Peter in detail. Terry explained them about the two seasons’ performances and why Twins’ could not manage to rise to the occasion.
This year, the Twins finished at bottom in the American League Central behind fourth place.
Twins won 66 and lost 96 games this regular season while their winning percentage remained consistent at .407.
According to experts, this was quite a poor result for the Twins. They could have played much better but the defensive strategies Terry had brought ruined their chances to play more open.
Other than his defensive strategies, Ryan, according to many experts is a correct choice for the Twins.
Twins’ basically play with more depth in the pitching rotation. Early in 2012 they had made some terrible mistakes by not signing new pitchers which at the end of the regular season proved right and they finished at bottom.
