  1. No

Swimmers ear rarely needs antibiotics anyway. It's more of an irritation of the external ear canal

Making sure there is no trapped water is the best prevention. Putting drops 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water will help dry them out.

If it does get infected and needs antibiotics, the best way is with antibiotic drops, not pills.

  2. be careful with candling, especially at 13. its not completely safe...some people report getting HOT wax on their ear drum and having worsening problems the do end up needing treatment by a doctor. i would say if you are going to go the ear candle route, go to a metaphysical or herbal type store and ask people who work there if they suggest candling and ask if maybe they could help you. <~~~you'll need a parent for that as no one is going to candle a 13 yr olds ear without parental permission...

i use an onion. cut an onion in quarters...microwave the onion for 5-10 seconds...just enough so it is quite warm but not super hot...wrap it in thin cloth so you don't get hot onion on your face and lay on it. put it over your ear and then lay your head down on it so the build up can drain out. the fumes help loosen up the wax and such which should help your ear drain.

i've heard many people use this method and anyone i've heard of using it says it works every time.

  3. YOU CAN BUY THE CANDLES TO CANDLE THE EAR.  IT WORKS FOR ME AND ALSO HELPS THE SINUS.  YOU CAN BUY THE CANDLES TO DO THIS AT HEALTH FOOD STORES,THIS IS ALSO SO VERY EASY TO DO AND NO PAIN OR DISCOMFORT AT ALL.
