Im almost qualifie as a nurse, is there any further studies i could do to become a doctor?

  1. If you wanna continue as a doctor, you'd have to start from the beginning. Being a nurse = just having a bachelors degree before getting into med school. so you'd have to take all the 4 years of med school.


  2. If you have your BSN, you would need to apply to medical school, which is another 4 years. If you haven't taken all the prerequistes, you may need to go back to school for another year to get them all. If you only have your associates, you would need to go back to school for your bachelors degree (not necessarily in nursing) and to get the prerequisites done. After that you have a few years of residency where the hours and the pay really stink.

    A better option for a nurse would be becoming a nurse practitioner. After getting your BSN, it would be 2 more years. THere are many different specialties, and it is kind of between a doctor and a nurse. YOu could write prescriptions and handle basic cases, and you would be under supervision of a doctor. It is a good option if you want more responsiblity and money but don't want to go back to school for the next 10 years.
