  1. doing a report./ yeah rite, do you think we're silly

  2. In a natural outdoor environment it will take about 5-6 months for the plant to mature. Indoors, by artificially manipulating the hours of light it receives, you can force flower the plants and it can reach maturity in as little as 3 months. A lot depends on the strain, though. Indicas tend to mature faster than sativas, which typically have a longer growing season. Most of the available seed stock is hybridized so that they mature faster, stay shorter, etc.

There's any number of reasons people grow their own. It assures better quality and known effects, it keeps people away from dealers, and in the long run is cheaper once the equipment is bought and paid for.

  3. 4-5 months.

But "several months" doesn't stop gardeners from growing all sorts of other plants.  I grow Tomatoes every year, even though they take awhile.

I think people "waste time", because they can grow the kind they want, and they believe it's less risky than buying on the street.  (Which is probably not true - as growing has its own dangers, and is generally a bigger crime than merely purchasing for personal use.)

The big draw may be that it's definitely TONS cheaper.
