Depending on how much your drive and your vehicle type and year, I'd guess A LOT. I think I paid $1000 for a six month policy for my son when he was learning to drive and he was 17.

Call Mercury and find out. They will give you a free quote over the phone or use one of those quote sites online to give you an idea. One that comes to mind is Progressive.

Location is a big part on the quote you get, the heavier the traffic - the more you'll pay

Type of car is another factor... however being 18 you will still pay a lot until you reach 25 yr old and if you are ticket and accident free then your insurance will drop!

If the car is paid off, and all you get is what the state law requires on insurance - you will get a better deal than getting full coverage

Your insurance is going to vary widely depending on your car and its going to more since your barely getting your license. after 3 years my insurance cut in half ( i had no accidents or tickets).

Since your a brand new driver I could call an insurance agent.  Not all companies will even take you because you just got your drivers license.  It is possible they might take you if you bring your parents cars with you or check with their insurance agent first.   It is possible that you can get all their discounts too.
