  1. Make sure you have correct running/jogging shoes. It would make more sense to me to buy an expensive pair of running sneakers then to pay $20 at Payless for a pair of sneakers that will cause you pain, discomfort and aren't supporting your foot correctly.

Are you sure the pain is in your calves? You could have shin splints, which are EXTREMELY painful. Give yourself a few days rest if the pain is severe. Taking 6 months off and then doing an extreme amount of running again isn't a very smart move there, bud. Do what you can and ease your way back into what you were doing 6 months ago. You'll be back where you ended off in no time. Best of luck to you darling :)

  2. Going to the doctor is your best bet.  You may have just ran too much, being that you took six weeks off.  Being that it is so painful, I would go to the doctor, where he may take XRAYS&give you an MRI.

    Best of luck!

You'll be running in no time :D

  3. Make sure that you have good running shoes, it's worth investing in a more expensive pair with proper support. I had x-rays, etc.  because my hip was hurting, I used to jog 4-5 miles a day. For whatever reason I decided to invest in a good pair of jogging shoes, no more hip pain.  I still get out every day and walk 3/4 miles daily in walking shoes with the correct support.
