  1. It sounds pretty expensive to me - are you sure they will appreciate it.

If you are going to do it I would recommend looking at small items like wedding favours. have a look on confetti.co.uk, and that might give you some ideas.

What about a cheap photo frame, Sweeties, cheap toys like those polystyrene areoplanes, power balls, mini alcohol bottles, a peice of paper and pen for them to write a personal message for you mum on, a photo. bubbles.

I'm getting quite carried away - can i come?!?

  2. invite her old boyfriend pref her first love

  3. In mine I`m putting Yo-Yo`s, samples of Molten Brown, versace and fructis. Silly little stretchy aliens, miniature teddies, sherbet dibdabs, candy necklaces, mini heart shape soaps, flannels, fridge magnets. That`s all I can think of at this hour of night. All bought through eBay, cheaply. I`ve done kids bags too, exactly the same but with inflatable guitars, and soft plush teddies saying "I love you" and no yo-yo`s for the kids. I also got pens printed with "Carole`s 50th birthday 10/05/08

  4. I think lots of fun stuff, masks, whistles, hats etc and maybe a small picture of your mum on a keyring as a memento

    xx

  5. you could also put a few accesories 4 the ladys....lol.... i dnooo anything really what does your mum like?

  6. maybe a tin of mints....? lol

  7. a postcard or photo of your mum now and as a child

dependant on money - some people put 'favours' in - little charms, things that are found in expensive crackers - eg. corkscrews, bottle openers, tape measures, little lucky charms etc.

  8. paper cuttings from 50 yrs ago or sweets that were popular then

  9. There's loads of websites now that sell old fashioned sweets that they would have had when they were kids.

Aniseed balls, sherbet pips, floral gums, bubble gum, peanut shaped boiled sweets, sweet cigarettes, sweet tobacco, Gold nugget chewing gum in the little bags.

It wouldn't cost too much to buy them loose and share them out yourself rather than the ready made selections .

  10. What about a massive Al Capone 'style birthday cake, containing a Lady's male 'Companion!'

  11. Quiz her over what sweets she ate as a child.

Bet she comes up with things like love hearts, pink shrimps, flying saucers, palma violets.

Again what toys she played with. I was a tomboy & loved marbles.Stick with cheap bits & bobs that will go in a goodie bag.

What music did she listen to.Make sure you play her favorites.

    Have a great time.

  12. My mum turned 50 last summer and when I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday she freaked out - big time! She didn't want anyone to know it was her birthday, she got really upset and in the end just came to my house (30 miles from her home) and hid here for 2 days until she was pretty sure she'd avoided all the birthday attention. Now I'm not saying your mum will do the same as people are very different - but omg make sure she wants a big fuss!

Party bags is a great idea!

How about some miniture toiletries, Boots (i'm guessing you're in the UK) do some great little shower gels and things, very cute. When I did party bags for my friend's hen night, I put in loads of sweets, balloons, yoyo's - the usual, and also a fantastic fluffy pen, and list of tasks - you could give your mum and her friends some birthday tasks - with points - more for the more outrageous!

Hey how about some real nostalgic stuff too, what about burning some of your mum's favourite old tunes onto cd's for everyone, quite random, but a real fun reminder of the party...

  13. and are the kids going to go home with a miniature bottle of whisky lol?

  14. I know this isn't an answer to your question BUT.....PLEASE PLEASE make sure your mum knows that you are taking her out somewhere special cos my best friend was not very happy at her 50th surprise party  last month as she had not had her "roots" or her nails done. They really are important to us oldies,

Hope your mum has a lovely birthday,

  15. You can make it funny ..

    Viagra

Shoe polish (with a note saying its for their balding heads)

    Diaper ("For those long trips")

    etc..

  16. Hello Son. Mum here. Nice idea but do try to use your own brain for once. XX

  17. STEREDENT

    HAIR NET

    DEODRANT

    BUS PASS

    MAGNIFYING GLASS
