  1. You really should wait until you have had a pointe class in technique shoes before buying your pointe shoes. How long have you been dancing ballet? In my experience teachers don't usually require a certain brand of shoe as it really just depends on how the brand and model fits your foot structure.

Padding is also something to think about. There are gel inserts as well as foam and lambs wool that cushion the foot during pointe work. I don't like to have any padding in my shoes as it prevents you from feeling the floor.

When you are done with your first pointe class look at your foot and make note of all of the spots that seem red and/or tender. You are going to want to buy some medical tape to put on those areas to prevent blisters.

Above all please please please do not try your shoes on at home. Tile, carpet, and hardwood are not good for your pointe shoes and while you may feel sturdy in class you will not know how to stand properly after your first class.

Only wear your pointe shoes when your teacher is present. Try them on in the store before buying them but do not put them on before class. I cannot stress this enough. It is extremely exciting to take home that first pair of shoes but attempting to walk around en pointe before you are ready can cause stress fractures and you may end up breaking your shoes in way too low.

After class don't just throw your shoes in your bag until your next class. If you can keep them in your parents car in the sunlight or on a window sill that will help them dry out and last a lot longer.

This had turned into a longer response than I had intended:)

Best of luck and have fun! It will hurt a bit at first but soon you'll get used to it.

  2. same here but im waiting til the first class so i know exactly what to get

  3. same as everyone else, and its POINTE not POINT.

    gosh -_-

    haha (:

  4. ok well i have done point before, be ready to work your feet non stop, your feet will hurt and possibly bleed, but it all pays off, you will be exercicing your feet the first day she may not have you put your point shoes on because you have to break them in to do that try putting it in a corner of a door and shutting it, dont try any shoes on talk to your teacher about what you should get you deffintally need padding thoug

there is gel or fur i prefur the gel though this helps with the pain but still it will hurt

i suggest after getting your point shoes and doing your first day of point to go home and stretch your feet out.

point is fun and exciting but it is also scary because you can seriously hurt yourself bt dont be that scared take things slow dont try to do something you no you cant but just want to try.

the most important thing is to have fun with what your doing i am sure you will see improvment withing the first month i no i did

    so good luck :)
