  1. Hey good Luck and Congrats!! How far along are you?

  2. it depends on your body . I think it takes a couple hours for full contractions to start .. but everyone is different my sister in law only pushed for 15 min to have her baby but took me 2 and a half hours . so it all depends . it wont  be start the IV and you have immediate contractions

  3. I was induced at 10 days overdue , got there early in the morning they started the meds at around 8:30-9am and I started feeling major contractions by 11:45am, but all women are different, depends on your body and if you dilate, etc.  had the baby by emergency c-section at around 8 pm.

  4. Don't be scared, everyone is different... You may have the easiest pregnancy ever. Don't you worry. Trust Me!... Once that baby is out and you see him/her you will completely and totally forget about the pain. Focus on the positive things! If you keep concentrating on pain you will only freak yourself out (for no reason!) Good luck!!

  5. i was induced with my first. They told me that all women are different some go into labour quickly after the first time unfortunately i went into labour after the 3rd dose. I went into hospital about 8.30am then went into labour at 10.30 the next morning!!! She just did not want to come out!! It was very depressing seeing women being wheeled down to the delivery  room and me just sitting there!!!! I was experiencing stomach contractions and pain but i wasn't in labour!!!!! You still have a few days yet you might go naturally!! Good luck

  6. When I went in to be induced, I arrived at the hospital at 6:00. I was admitted, I got changed, and the nurse came in gave me my IV with the pitocin. At around 7 my doctor came in to break my water & told my nurse I could get my epidural at any time. My son was born at 1:40pm. The cord was around my son's neck and he ended up in the NICU because he was unconscious when he was born & not able to breath on his own. I would have had him before 1:40 had it not been for that. Everybody is different though, and every doctor is different. That's just what my experience was.

Good Luck! I'm having another in December and I'm NERVOUS!!

  7. the contractions will start usually around an hour after and things will progress from there, good luck and congrats

  8. I was induced with my first pregnancy and within 1 hour of them hooking up the pitocin i was feeling HARD contractions. They gave me Nubane for the pain and i wish i never got it ! Between contractions i would be literally knocked out sleeping i mean snoring ! Then when a contraction came i jumped up and was grabbing the rails of the bed in pain.Well i ended up with an emergency c-section at 6:30 that night and had my son at 6:47pm. All cases are different though so hopefully that wont happen to you. Im trying a VBAC this time around because i really want the whole "labor & delivery" experience. Good luck to you and congratulations !!!

  9. Hello,

I know this is a terribly strange way to think about it, but I was induced, and quite frankly, my first labour was a heck of a lot shorter than my friends who weren't.  My mum was gobsmacked.

In my case, they tried pessaries, he wasn't budging, so they broke my waters and he still wouldn't, then they put me on a drip, and gave me diamorphine, I slept for quite a bit!!

In total, my labour was just over 4 hours due to the drip, remember that the pain comes during the contractions, but you get a break in between, and nature makes us girls able to handle it, you'll be tougher than you think!

When you hold your baby in your arms, it honestly is true that you will not feel the pain any more.

Good luck with your new baby!  Let us know every last detail, we're nosy!!

  10. Firstly don't worry, you're in good hands!  I was induced with my daughter because of an ongoing back problrm a week and a day early.  In fact they had to do the induction twice and it still didn't kick me off!  In the end they just burst my waters and gave me the drip to bring labour on faster...and fast was right!  I hit full labour and 26 minutes/4 pushes later my daughter was born!  I wish you a labour like mine, so quick and easy it was unbelievable!

  11. It totally depends. I was induced with my first and I had to have a '2nd dosage!' as started proper contractions nearly 24hrs from when I first went in.

For some it will happen quicker.

Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you like to your midwife or at the hospital. I am sure it will be fine. Try to relax in the meantime!

    All the best

  12. hey

i was induced and had my 1st lot of gel at 4pm but that never worked

at 9pm then gave me my 2nd lot of gel and 3 hours later the contractions started. by 3am i was 3cm and was taken down to labour ward and was on gas and air for an hour but that never worked for me and then was given Pethidine at 5am which took the edge of the pain and then at 7am was given the Epidural which was amazing and i feel

asleep, the midwife woke me up at 9am and said my labour slowed down and she checked down below and got the shock of her life and said i was fully dilated and showed michael and my mum saw the top of  my sons head and they couldn't believe it. was pushing for an hour and a half and then they realised hee was facing to the side and i had to go down to Theatre So They Could Use Forceps and he was born at 11am so only in labour for 8 hours :)

    congrats and best of luck

  13. don't be scared. when you're tensed, the baby will have a harder time getting out being you'll be so tight.  relax. the docs are going to be there 24/7 for you.  I was induced with my first at 9:00am and he came out at 2:59 that afternoon.  And he was over 9lbs.  You'll start feeling the pains probably about an hour into the meds you've been given. Eat the ice chips and ask them for Nubane... it's a mild drug to help relax you more. It decreases the pains and helps you to remain calm and feeling "okay".

  14. I was induced with all 3 of my boys. It is better than just going into labor because at least you know when you are going to have your baby. My contractions started anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours after they started the meds. Good luck and Congratulations.  There is nothing to be scared about, once you see your baby you will know it was all worth it.
