mmmkay...so i can't leave the room without taking her with me,

but i wanna go places without her being right there.

shes staying in my room & shes right next to the window.

i leave the radio on so she hears people talking but she still screams at the top of her lungs cuz she wants someone in there.

is there anything i can do to keep her quiet without me having to be in there with her 24/7?

please help...

btw;; i don't have a television in my room...so that won't do anything.

  1. What did your aunt tell you?

Put the bird in her cage and cover it with a dark colored, light cloth like a section of a sheet.  This will calm her.

The bird is feeling insecure and 'screaming' is not what she is doing.  She is calling because she does not feel secure.  It would have helped if you had spent lots of time with her with your aunt there.  Do tell the bird (name?) that she will be okay and her mommy will be home soon.

  2. It might help if she is moved from the window. If there is a lot going on outside, people, traffic etc.  It might be sensory overload that is causing her to scream.  Maybe put some soothing music on and partially cover her cage for awhile.

  3. You have got to learn to ignore her when you need to be without her. She will soon learn her calls out to you won't get your attention and stop it.

  4. My boyfriend had this trouble with his cockatiel. He covered his cage everytime he would scream. Try that but make sure it's totally dark in the cage. It worked like a charm! :) over time he stoped the screaming. Good Luck!
