I'm gonna be a sophomore and I'm taking a college course( AP Human Geography) and Honors Geometry. I know I'm gonna get straight A's so my GPA will be 4.29 I'm gonna be in 3-4 clubs and play basketball and have a summer Job. i made an A in a freshman business class. I also got a ribbon and medal for being a top student for behavior and grades in two classes during my freshman year. Do you think i could get into Wharton. I also moved to the high school right before my freshman year and I'm active w/ my church........Does the Real Estate program at Wharton help and teach about becoming a Realtor/real estate agent, because thats the job i want so would the education they give in their real estate program let me become a Realtor/real estate agent after graduation

  1. Wharton is a stretch, even for the best students. You need to know that a) AP classes are not college courses and b) you need way more than one AP class to get your application into the "maybe" pile at Wharton admissions (or anywhere elite). Consider that many applicants take at least 2-3 AP classes a quarter; they basically won't care about any regular level classes you take (like fr. business) because any student can get an A in a regular class and they want the best, not the mediocre. So take more and harder classes. Also, make sure you're in leadership positions in those clubs because just being a member shows no initiative. Don't get your hopes up too high, either, because top schools turn away droves of perfect valedictorians so have a safety school in mind.

  2. The real estate program is more directed toward real estate development (putting together projects) and finance (financing real estate and created real estate projects).  It does not particularly help you become a real estate agent.  You only need a real estate course, which varies by state.  You should consult the Wharton website and ask your counselor at school to show you information on all the areas in real estate.  You might like to be a developer (a la Trump but he's an exception), creating projects like shopping centers, residential tracts of homes, multi-zoning development, etc.

I would look for internships in areas that relate to your interests.  Congratulations on your good grades thus far.  I would definitely take AP courses during your HS years.
