Im bored and im asking you this: winter smell?

sometimes i hear people say they love the smell of winter but....what exactly are they smelling? is it snow? 'cause i'm pretty sure snow doesnt have a smell hahah

When I refer to the winter smell I refer  to the sharpness of the cold air

Actually the winter smell is generally just freshness.  The snowfall and cold air has a tendency to supress other smells and the crisp winter air is really fresh.  The mountain pines do still have some odor but its a good thing.  So the winter smell is just a clean, fresh odor.
