Im buying a streetbike what is a good starter bike and what all do i need to get started riding?

I'm just starting the riding myself and I'm super excited.  My husband has been riding for a while and he is putting me on a Ninja 250, (These 250's are SUPER hard to find right now too so you better start looking if you decide on this one!!!  I'm on a huge waiting list for one.) I'm a little person tho so you can probably go with a bigger bike as all the others are too tall for me.    Depending on the state you are in you may have to take a motorcycle course to be eligible for a motorcycle endorsement on your license so you need to check into that.  Thankfully I jsut moved from a state where it was a requirement and now I have the option of testing or take the course.  I still think I may take the course tho.  Hope some of this helps out!!

look for a MSF (motorcycle safety foundation ) class it will teach you the basics and more. you will need a good helmet , some boots and a good jacket. look at the ninja 650R as a good starter bike or the ninja 250R is also good. if you are not into a sportbike try the Suzuki DR400sm it is a fun bike and not overly powerful. good luck and welcome to the world of riding. it is a Hoot.

I would suggest a ninja 650cc.  the 250cc bikes are really good if you just want something to cruise around the city but I wouldn't suggest them for a lot of highway use.

As far as gear goes.  I suggest a nice jacket  and gloves with extra padding,  a Snell tested helmet, sturdy, over the ankle boots, and a pair of cool safety goggles.

classes?  military in Washington call Puget Sound Safety. They have a great beginer's class for $250, motorcycles provided,  you just bring your own saftey gear.  the class witl teach you every thing you need to know to get started, even get you certified to put the motorcycle endorsement on your Driver's Liscence.
