  1. yes, it does count as meat. the only thing that doesnt for catholics is fish. but i am a catholic (baptised and went through all the sacraments) and I dont worry about the friday rule. There are tons of vegetarian things to eat though (spaghetti, lasagna, quesadillas, burritos). i make really good black bean quesadillas with chopped jalapenos. they are delicious and filling

  2. It's tradition during lent to eat fish on Fridays.

  3. I forgot it was Friday and just ate steak. :(

  4. For lent, you're supposed to not have any meat on fridays until Easter has arrived. So, it's best you stick with a veggie meal or fish. My mom had to eat long john silvers last night while the rest of us had KFC. =)

  5. no meat on fridays for you

    only fish

  6. Yes....chicken counts as meat too...every kind of chicken like baked, fried, and also BBQ.

  7. Yes, chicken counts as meat

See the article I found below

Q: Are chicken and fish considered meat?

A: Chicken yes, fish no. The Catholic Church's abstinence laws consider that meat comes only from animals such as chickens, cattle or pigs-all of which live on land. Birds are also considered meat. Fish are a different category of animal

  8. No, the only meat you can eat on Friday is none.

  9. If you're following the prohibition against meat on fridays, just wait til Saturday to have your chicken.

If, on the other hand, you are going to a friend's house for dinner, and they serve chicken, and you had intended on fasting, then it's generally permissible to have the chicken (to avoid offending your friend) and observe the fast on Saturday instead.

  10. For the most part, Catholics no longer eat only fish on Fridays, so your church would probably not look down on you. If they did, I'd tell them not to sweat it because God is bigger than anything wrong with you.

The traditions of men make the Word of God no effect.

  11. EAT WHAT YOU WANT .

  12. Sister Mary Christmas said it's meat.   Where have you been?   Vatican II said we can now eat meat on Friday.  That was 3 popes ago.

  13. Yes it counts as meat.

  14. I'm catholic and I always forget about fridays..........
