Im changing all 4 speakers in my car to Alpine SPR-13C, will i need an amp to power these? if so which? thanks

I have a renault clio 1.2 dynamique with the factory CD tuner player, will i need to change this? i don't particulary want to. This is the link to the speakers i am buying http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spr13c-p-5660.html

would i need an amp to power these and change the sound quality or would the normal factory stero in the car be fine? which would i need,if i need one, and how many channles?

  1. you dont 100% need an amplifier.. but i would highly reccomend one. using an amplifier increases the power and sound quality by alot. if you are doing 4 speakers you will want a 4 channel amp.. btw good choice of speakers


  2. yes and no

    your radios internal amp can power them but when you start turning up the volume (anything past halfway, maybe before) they will start to sound distorted because the radios amp will be overworking itself trying to push those speakers- so the sound quality would suck at mid to high volumes

    you could use a two or four channel amp (four channel would be best)- make sure its from a CEA-compliant brand (not over rated, produces the advertised wattage)

    if you use an amp or not, i would recommend getting some bass blockers to protect the speakers from frequencies too low that could damage them http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/G...
