  1. Grass is typically your faster surface (depending on the weather of course).  Clay courts are generally more slower, and your normal hard-top courts are in-between.

  2. Compared to the grass courts at Wimbledon in the 1990's and before, the grass they use now is slower, but this year it seems to be playing faster than it was last year, according to some players.  It probably depends on what court they play on though, because historically Court #2 has always played slower than Centre Court, so I've heard, and the outer courts can vary as well.

  3. hey man after i read on the wimby website that it got faster i read somewher else (newspaper i think) taht it gets faster. i guess the grass starts getting skiddy and ****.

    great news for roger!

  4. It's faster than clay or most hard-courts, but slower than it used to be. Hope this helps...

  5. grass is the fastest surface and will get faster as the tournament goes on as the players trample all over it.

that is why the best 'serve and volliers' do best at wimbledon.

  6. I'm also confused. I am wondering why they say todays grass courts are faster.

    Genetically modified grass?

  7. it is still slow but just alittle faster probably because the grass is alittle longer. the balls etc

  8. Grass is a very fast service when the ball stays low,ie flat hitting as it skids and races away after bouncing. These day serve and volley is declining,so players hit from the baseline with top spin, which mean high, but slower bounce. So,although the grass is the same, the ball generally bounces slower, due to changed hitting.Wimbledon has been experimenting with the ball pressure also

  9. the weather has a lot to do with it!

  10. maybe this yr the grass more green
