It says:

built-in digital (ATSC) and analog (NTSC) tuners for over-the-air TV broadcasts (antenna required)

built-in QAM cable TV tuner receives unscrambled programs without a set-top box (cable service required)

do I need an antenna if I have a cable box?

  2. NO, you don't need an antenna if you have a set-top box.

  3. no the cable box provides you with every thing i would reccomend comcast, ondemand mydvr up to 800 chanels and if ur a guy like me u can order the nba and nfl channels which shows games that have already been shown and with my dvr you can rewind pause fast forward and set a recording, say u have to go to work when u get up go to the channel click record and when u come home if u missed the game or movie or whatever and its easy to install oh and the silver cable box has the mydvr also if u have a hi defenition tv u get the hd channels (200 and up)

  4. No, you don't need an antenna if you have a cable box.  You WILL need HD service from your cable provider, however.

There are several ways to get an HD TV signal.

From an antenna, just whatever local channels are on broadcast TV in your area.

Cable - but remember, a lot of services are just SDTV, plain old low-def, unless you specifically order HD.

    Satellite - see cable

Oh, and with cable "HD" channels, some services over-compress the video, so what you end up with, while technically "HD" actually has less visual information in it than old-fashioned TV.  (Think:  youtube quality)  Specifically, Comcast has been known to do this, and early on, I heard the same about DirectTV.  You won't have this problem with broadcast (antenna) HDTV.

Oh, I see what has you confused...the "without a set-top box."

That means that if you receive unscrambled cable channels on your cable line (like, if you're able to plug it directly into ANY old TV and have it work) then you're not going to have a problem even if you don't have a cable box.  In this situation, the channels are controlled by the TV, because it is the TV's tuner that is handling those channels and converting them into a signal usable by the TV.

If you DO have a cable box, you just hook it up to the video inputs on your TV, and use the BOX to change the channels, because the box's tuner is doing the work.

  5. On certain occasion like if you want to watch local news that isn't broadcast in your service region of your state because of the your cable service other local news region; but is without the box.

  6. no

  8. it means halpeno dip tv
