Im considering getting a new bike a norco 4hun but then?

i looked at it closely and i realized that it had slotted read drop outs and then i read that if u brake hard with a bike with slotted rear drop outs it'll jerk the axle of the frame is this true???.... and if not are there any pulses of getting a bike with rear drop outs instead of vertical rear drop outs or are the vertical ones better?? please give good info thanks
