  1. Contact your city's housing authority office. You will probably be put on a waiting list until something becomes available. I don't know how old you are, but if you are a "senior citizen" you may qualify for senior housing that goes by your income also. Actually $300.00 a month is not bad rent. I pay $605.00 a month for a two bedroom apartment. You may also qualify for the "Link" program, try it.

  2. I would apply for Section 8. They pay a large percentage of your rent based on your income. If you haven't already done it, apply for food stamps. You may also qualify for assistance for utilities such as heating and electric.

  3. You need a social worker.    Have you contacted the welfare department?

You will qualify for section 8, making your rent 190 a month, they pick up the rest.

There are other programs as well, to help with other bills, food and transportation needs.

If you are having trouble figuring out who to call send me your location and I will try to track the number down for you.
