Then there's a list of numbers. What's "significant figures" supposed to mean?

  1. It simply means you should round off each number to three digits, or numbers that will give meaning to the accuracy of the actual number. Numbers can be rounded to 1 , 2 , 3, 4 , or 5  significant figures;3 figures is most common used. check the website below.

  2. Significant figures means digits that are not zero - unless the zero is between two non-zero numbers, or at the end of a decimal.

    34,000 has two SD

    34,050 has 4 SD

    0.0003 has only 1 SD

    0.030 has 2 SD
