Im doing a research about SHADOW TEACHER in special educ.. but i cant find its definition and its origin.?

What are the roles of a shadow teacher and why are they called as such? what are their qualifications? i cant find any in the internet.Are shadow teachers similar to teacher aides?

  1. from the previous description given by the last person I'd say yes they are simalar if not the same as a teacher aide.

    Are you sure they don't mean where you are shadowing a teacher like when your on placement to gain a degree?

    Are you doing this for a course? If so ask your teacher to explain the term, as they cannot expect you to research something which has not at least been touched on in class or in course materials


  2. a shadow -basically is a back up for teh student-

    teh sahdow should stay in the shadow-not be prominant

    should not hover over the student and just be ready to 'catch' him when he falters-with attention, behavior, academics

    should be in the background-blending in with the class--

    keep one eye on assigned student and 1 eye on the rest of class--

    can be involved wit other students so as not to make teh special needs student stand out-

    it is basically a specialized form of aid -

    a standard teacher aid doesn't blend into the background-and generally shoudl remain active -in direct assistance-

    teh shadow is moe indirect and passive
