Im doing a science report!Help!!When did the young earth theory become popular?How?

I don't know when but perhaps how would be easier to explain...  The young Earth Theory is based on the 7 days of Creation.  6 days God Created the Heavens and the Earth and on the 7th Day he rested...  We apparently are coming up to the 7th Day.

2Pe 3:8   But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The young earth theory is not science.  It is based on literal interpretations of biblical scripts.

Beliefs are not science until they are proven to be true by the application of formal scientific methods and formal verification of an experimental hypothesis.
