  1. look into a different diagnosis from your psych dr.  I had severe panic disorder and was treated for years with Paxil.  I went to change med because of issues with libido.  Well, that seemed to snowball me into a manic phase that I had not experienced for many many years (when I was young, I just explained it away)  I explained to my dr that I felt like a pinball was bouncing around in my head and wouldn't stop.  Thoughts were whirling around so fast and I kept hearing music over and over and over again.  I honestly thought I was losing it!

I have since been dx with Bipolar II.  I am on a mood stabilizer (Tegretol) and and antidepressant (Effexor) and to help me sleep, I take a small dose of Seroquel.  I have changed dramatically in my moods and anxiety level and it is awesome!

Patience patience patience is the key if you look into other med treatment.  You may have some odd side effects that can be scary.  Have your dr's number close at hand, and maybe someone who has been through similar stuff to talk to.

Also, my dr was adamant that I get proper sleep - about the same amount every day and go to sleep and wake up about the same time every day.  That is a big help.  Good luck to you
