  1. yes , you deplane in London , go thru customs/immigrations then you go to your connecting flight . Anytime you deplane in a foreign country you will have to go thru customs

  2. Yes, you will need to.

  3. Yikes, it's pretty obvious most people here don't fly internationally very much.

If you're flying LAX - LHR - ATH, you will go through customs in BOTH LONDON and ATHENS.  You must go through in London because you're flying into a European country from the US and then again in Greece because the UK is NOT a Schengen country =]

You won't have to go through customs in LA on your way out, but when returning, you have to go through US customs upon reentry into the country.

Hope this helps, and have a nice trip!

  4. No. You will only have to go through customs in Greece.

  5. I would imagine if you had to get off the plane then you might have to go thru security in London.

In LA ? Yes you will go thru customs tho most likely just get waved thru

Make sure you get up and move around during the flight

  6. Going from LA to London to Athens, you board in LA. The most they'll do there is check your luggage. They will check your carry on, like any state-to-state trip, and maybe your check on bags. Depends if you're a lucky one. They probably won't ask where you're going; you're leaving the country. We don't care if you are going to Greece or Africa to blow THEM up. Just if you're coming in to blow US up. Come on now. :)

When you get to London, there's no way they'll check it. Your bags aren't in London when you arrive. They go on another plane directly to Greece. To go from one plane to another plane increases the chances of losing the bags, so normally the bags aren't even shipped with the passengers if they are doing stop overs, which is why people lose their bags sometimes. If you are leaving to go get a bite to eat or to see the sites because you have two days in between flights, then yes, you'll deal with customs but only for your carry on. It'll be unlikely that you'll get your other bags there.

Now when you get to Greece, they'll be in your business. They'll want to know why you're there, how long, who you're seeing, what you have... They're protecting their country from drugs and the like. But the only place you'll get checked is the US and Greece; London is just a quick stop and they figure that everywhere else has checked you so you're safe. After all, you've gone through metal detectors back in the US. There's no way you can bring a bomb into London, right?

:) Hope you have a fun trip.
