  1. yeh there is just take the train directly from the airport to amsterdam central station, its about 5 minutes away and get the direct train to Shiphol airport back, which goes every 15 min, its very easy to do, and there is loads to be seen and done in Amsterdam center, Hope you enjoy.

  2. yeah watch others flying in lol tc

  3. Schiphol has some nice shops in the terminal so in theory you could stay there if you are nervous about travelling outside the airsport

Alternatively, as Wendy said, the train station is actually inside the terminal and trains to Amsterdam Centraal Station leave at 15 mins intervals, and you can be right in the centre in 15 mins.

From there you can either take a walk about, check out the shops, and the building (queue for museums, Anne Frank house etc are liable to very long as it is the summer period, so it would not be worthwhile going in).  Amsterdam also has a lot of terraces and in the nice weather it is great to sit outside with a drink and see all the wierd and wonderful characters!

Another idea is to take a canal boat tour (from right outside Centraal Station).  This way you can get to see Amsterdam without fear of getting lost (although it's a small capital really and not easy to get lost as such)

One word of warning, as it is the summer period, Schiphol can get really busy, especially at the passport & scan areas, with very long queue.  Plus depending on which gate your plane leaves it can be up to 25 mins walking, so whatever you do, don't cut it too fine for the return back to the airport

    Have fun
