  1. If all else fails, use the phone.

  2. He may have a lot of email backed up and be plowing through his emails, or he may be still on holiday.  Send another email with details of your visit, your name, etc. to jog his memory.

  3. I know it is scary, but please try not to worry. I am quite sure it is because he was on vacation and he probably has a huge backlog of email messages and other business he needs to take care of.

If it is any consolation, I had to go to my doctor's office today to drop something off. I had called yesterday morning about another matter, and I hadn't heard back from the lady I called yet, so while I was there I popped in to her office to check and see if she got my message. When I saw her, it was about 2:30 pm, and she already had 147 voice messages from today alone. She told me she had not gotten my message yet because she was still going through her messages from Monday! She told me that she has approximately 250 messages a day which she needs to handle, and more on Mondays, because people call over the weekend. She has to take them in the order they come in, so she has been working all week until today on just Monday's messages. She also told me that my doctor alone (he is a partner in a very large practice with approximately 12 doctors) gets about 300 messages a day which are handled by his nurse. His nurse often does not get to all of them in one day. And that's a doctor who has a huge practice with a lot of help. Imagine if you are one doctor, and you have been away on vacation. Can you imagine how much business is stacked up?

I am quite sure he is moving slowly but surely through his business from when he was on vacation, including his emails. He is probably very busy from having been away. I don't think that there is anything seriously wrong, because when there is, most doctors move you automatically to the very top of the list to let you know there's a problem which needs to be handled immediately. Just give him some time, and I am sure you will hear from him. Honestly, the fact that you didn't hear from him immediately is probably a good sign, and means there is nothing serious to report.

Give him some time to get back to you. If you haven't heard from him by the beginning of next week, try contacting him again. And in the meantime, try not to worry.

    Be well.
