Stuttgart is a beautiful city and there is really a lot to do there. I went to university nearby in Schwaebisch Gmuend. Depending on the season you can do so many things! The first place to start is on the Koeningstrasse (Kings street) It's the main road directly in front as you come out of the Hauptbahnhof. There is a great Spanish resturaunt that has live flamenco dancers, there are clubs and Irish pubs all through there for night life. This time of year is also the Weinachtsmarkt (Christmas Market) where you can warm up with Gluhwein! In the fall, the nearby town of Bad Cannstadt (next stop over by train) has a fest that goes on at the same time as Oktoberfest.

And if you still don't find enough to do in Stuttgart/Vaihingen, then remember that the Stuttgart Hauptbahof is one of the major stations in Germany and you can get to Switzerland, Austria,  Hungary, Belgium, France, Holland, or the Czech Republik quickly and cheaply, and get to Garmish or Interlaken Switzerland

for all kinds of outdoor activities!

I lived in Ludwigsburg, Germany and studied at the Paedagogische Hochschule... I went to Stuttgart quite often since it was the closest large city.  I actually didn't like Stuttgart that much... it has some nice industry, but it wasn't very pretty.  The Weinachtsmarkt in Ludwigsburg was much more beautiful.  But, Stuttgart did offer a more lively night life (I loved some of the pubs and discos) and the trainstation became like a second home to me.  When I tell people that I lived in Germany for a year, I usually say I lived in a small city near Stuttgart and most people have at least heard of it.

So much to say about it, what do you want to know specifically?

I lived in Hochdorf for 15 years growing up, its a little town bout 15min from stuttgart. Stuttgart has alot of history in Baden-Wuerttemberg, has beutifull museums, long streets full with shops to go shopping at, lot of good clubs, some of the bigger cinemas in the area, very central and has alot of international traffic run through it.

I'm from Wertheim/ Germany. Stuttgart is our ( Badne Wuertemberg) capitol, and also my favorite soccerteam the VFB calls it home :-)

OK, I've heard of it numerous times before, but I had no clue about this town before your question. I did an internet search and here is what i found:

Its in Southern Germany with a total pop. of about 2.7 million

Its known for its high tech industries which include DaimlerChrysler, Porsch, and Bosch (all headquartered here). The motorbike and car were invented in Stuttgart (Impressive).

Apart from this, Stuttgart also has a long history and is known for its cultural life with numerous theatres, operas and concert halls.

This is jus the tip of the iceberg

I was born just around the corner ( Esslingen).On the weekends

we were  " clubbing ",downtown .Koenigsstrasse.

And of course DB,Porsche factory ,VFB (KLINSI),wilhelma,fernsehturm and,and....must i say more ?
