  1. If you want to study French in Paris for more than 3 months, you will need a student visa, and provide the  documentation mentioned by the other poster. If your stay in France is less than 3 months, you can come on a tourist visa.

Getting the long-term student visa is a two-step process. Step 1 is to go to the French Embassy in Manila with required documentation to get the visa stamp on your passport; it'll expire within a month or so of your arrival in France. Step 2 is to go to the Police Prefecture where you are staying (in Paris, if you live in Paris) after your arrival and before the date of visa expiration, with other documentation (the embassy should give you this list), to get your actual student visa/resident card (good for about 6 mo. to 1 year, depending on which Prefecture). The Prefecture visit is annoying, and difficult if you don't speak French as often, they don't speak English. If you don't speak French, bring a French speaker with you if you can, it'll make things alooot easier. This visa is renewable so long as you are still in school, and the subsequent visits to the Prefecture are much easier, thank goodness!

As a US citizen, I have another option which eliminates step 2 (the more painful one), it's a limited 6 mo. to 1 yr. student visa - the difference is I can't extend its duration by renewal. As a Philippines citizen, I don't know if you have this... though my guess is you don't. If you're staying for at least a year, though, it's better to get the other student visa, anyway, as it affords you a residency status, which'll be helpful down the road (eg opening French bank account).

For any student visa, you must be enrolled in a French school FULL-TIME (i.e., 20 hours/week minimum for 12 weeks = 1 semester).

Collect your docs and visit the French Embassy in Manila far in advance (like several months, not several days!). My own experience at the French Embassy in LA, Calif was bad enough, but my Filipino friend's experience in Manila was 10x worse! Embassy folk will tell you what they feel like, regardless of what requirements are written on their own website, and may throw obstacles in your way (as happened with my friend). Several embassy visits may be necessited, so over-prepare if you can!
