  1. You will be feeding it pinkies for some time!

Probably a good 8 months or even longer depending on the size it gets.

  2. Feeding Hatchlings should be done every 5 days or so. (Corns over the age of one year or yearlings could be introduced to a 7-10 day feeding pattern.)Newborn hatchlings will start with 1 pinkie mouse per feeding. When after feeding you observe your snake “hunting” for more, or the swallowed prey becomes less noticeable, then increase the feed to 2 pinkies and so on up to 3 pinkies. The next stage would be to feed fuzzies following the same procedure followed by small, then medium mice. But don’t be in a hurry to get onto the bigger prey. It is important to make sure your snake is comfortable with the size it is being fed and to make sure you don’t over feed as snakes can get overweight. It is also an important time to make sure temperatures are correct as they use heat to aid digestion. If these temperatures are not correct then re-gurgitation may occur. An adult Corn snake should be fed every 7-10 days, and by this stage should be on at least medium mice.

Dont forget,do not be in a hurry to feed bigger mice as they are prone to get overweight.

  3. I fed my corn snake pinkies for 8-9months ..... i started him off with 1 pinkie each week then gradually after a few months i fed him 2 pinkies untill he was big enough to come off them !!

    Hope i have helped

    :-)

  4. Nature answers this for you.

Just watch his body.  His prey item should be no larger than the largest part of his body.  As HE grows, so too, shall that 'rule of thumb.'  You'll SEE when he can take fuzzies, instead of pinkies.  When the pinkies are MUCH smaller than his largest diameter - it's too small.  Upgrade to fuzzies.

It's not a time thing.  It's the individual snake's growth rate.  The rule of thumb is NO bigger than he is around.  So, if he's taking more and more pinkies, but is big enough now for a fuzzy?  Change.

I hope this has been helpful, and enjoy your snake.

  5. I suggest you feed it 1 pinkie every 4 days to give it a head start, then after a few months maybe increase it to 2 pinkies every 4 days. Any food item you give your snake should only ever be slightly bigger than the largest part of its body. Once you think it has out grown pinkies and you feel confident enough then introduce it to fuzzies. Dont forget to you MUST defrost the food at room temperature for a few hours. Do NOT defrost in hot water, because the internal organs of the rodent will not be thawed and this can be highly dangerous for the snake. By feeding your snake 1 or 2 pinkies every 4 days will reduce the time on pinkies considerably.

  6. unless it is a hatchling do not bother with pinkies they are mostly water and do not provide enough nutrition for the snake. if it eats the pinkies without problems try small fuzzies. if you only feed it pinkies for 8 months it will not grow
