I had Dish Network for 18 months and I was please with them for the service and the pricing but here recently, I signed up for the DVR HD package and they came to install my HD receiver and the order was completely messed up and the next install date was 2 1/2 weeks later, so I called Direct TV and they said they have more HD channels now then Dish (over 100). Im just wondering if I'm shooting myself in the foot by switching from Dish to Direct? I mainly wanting movie packages, I watch sports and I love the HD and DVR. Is this a good choice? Should I get that warranty that they offer for $5 a month incase anything physical happens to the equipment?

Please give me advice on both if you had both?

I have the next to last package also that they are offering the Xtra i think its called.

  1. Hi hotncguy18,

I don't think you should put to much weight on one install issue. In the long run it is picture quality, programming options and reliability that will matter to you.

The availability of HD is constantly changing as both providers continue to add.

Dish does a good job, has a good selection of channels and is a very reliable service. Don't make a hasty decision you might regret later.
