  1. Well I have a 1 year old tabby cat and thats my same problem too! i want to get another cat but i dont know how my cat will do with it. but anyway. i decided not to just because i am busy with other things but i know you are going to gte a cat busy or not busy so i would suggest buying the kitten but not giving every second of your time to the kitten. yes pay attention to the kitten but also make sure that your other cat get plenty attention maybe even more attention then the kitten! Whats important is that the older cat doesnt feel neglected because of you spending time with the kitten or she might get angry and p**p all over your clothes. (what happened to my older sister). and how you get the older cat and the kitten to bond is really the older cats decision. the older cat will eventually bond but what you should do. was i used to have a little cat room just for the cats where their toys and food and litter are. and if the cat and kitten arent bonding you should leave both cats in that little room (or bathroom/laundrey room , wherever the litter box is) for about ten to fifteen minutes and see when you open the door how much they are apart from eachother. if they are snuggling that is very good. thats how it worked for my sister cat and my kitten.

    Hope That Helped

  2. At first she may hiss and paw at the new kitten, don't be angry this is natural. The best way to get them used to each other is to hold and pet them at the same time. The longer they stay together, the quicker she will get used to it.

  3. She will get used to her... But at first she will occasionally hiss or scat at her....

  4. Start the kitten out in a room your older cat cannot enter temporarily.  (In any case, the kitten should be getting kitten food and the 2 year old adult food, so they shouldn't be able to get at one another's food bowls.)  After a week or two, allow the two cats to see one another through a gate or screen in the doorway of the room the kitten is in.  After a week of this, allow brief times when they can contact one another.  Throughout this process, give the older cat lots of attention.

I hope the older one is already spayed, and the kitten will be when 5 months old.

  5. the cat will definitely be mad at first, it's a new kitten coming into their territory so they will be defensive. try introducing them first by letting them sniff and see each other without actually having total access to one another. put them in cages that are touching so if it gets ugly, no one gets hurt. as long as they are vicious, there's no problem. my friend has had 2 cats for years (one was there first and a few years later she got the second one) the older one still hates the new one but they don't fight so its okay.. they just aren't friends AT ALL

  6. it will take about 7 to 10 days for them to calm down, but they'll get to be playmates

  7. she will be upset a while
