Im getting a new dog?

Question

I'm getting a new dog, and I would like to buy a small dog. I don't want a poodle or chihuahua because the poodle is too yappy and chihuahua's pee alot. What is a good small dog to buy that is playful cute and smart?

All dogs can be yappy, smalls dogs just need to be taught before it gets out of control. I recomend Poms.  And dont shop ADOPT!

You should get a Yorkshire Terrier. I have one myself and they are a lot of fun. He doesn't bark a lot either. Only when he hears strange noises outside. And even then, he just growls and barks one time. He' just a puppy so he's in the middle of being trained but one of friends have one and theirs is house-broken. They are amazing companions. :]

i agree um well have you thought about a yorkie terrier or a scottish terrier or something you have a lot of dogs to choose from

Yorkie, they are awesome. If you get them young then they are easly taught to not be yappy.

Any puppy, large or small, tend to have to pee alot... Some Poodles are very smart... And Some Yorkie's can be yappy....

All dogs have personalities unique to there breed, and most will develop traits beyond that. All dogs need a loving home and some basic obedience can never hurt.

There are thousands of dogs in shelters that need a good home. Maybe you could consider adopting one instead of buying from a breeder.

Note-

Smaller breeds always need to pee more often- their bladders are smaller than a shot-glass!.. but that doesn't mean that they cannot be trained.

I'm oh-so glad that you're thinking this through, rather than getting a specific breed simply because it's "cool"...

we have a chihuahua and a shih tzu.. my chihuahua is smart and playful, but she does have to pee a lot.. but my sister has a shih tzu.. and honestly anyone can do anything to the dog.. although he is not the smartest, he is a very well tempered and playful dog.. and he they have to be groomed every so often unless you want to keep up with long hair and the little pony tail
